COVID-19 - March 25

COVID-19 - March 25

Up until now, no member of our team had contracted COVID-19. However, this situation changed late yesterday when we learned that one of our employees at the Cambridge distribution centre tested positive for COVID-19.

We ceased operations at the distribution centre and asked all employees to return home. The centre will be closed until the premises and equipment can be cleaned and disinfected. Our priority is to ensure the safety of our employees before authorizing their return to work.

We are therefore following an extremely rigorous cleaning protocol developed by GPC that exceeds the standards required by Ontario health authorities. We've also instructed all those who may have been in contact with this employee to immediately place themselves under quarantine and monitor their condition. Our thoughts are with this member of our team.

In light of this event, I would like to once more stress the importance of taking preventive measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. It is imperative that we respect these measures at all times:

  • Wash your hands frequently.
  •  Avoid touching your face.
  • Clean high-touch surfaces and objects.
  • Practise social distancing: Keep a two-metre distance from others.

I'm aware that the implementation of these measures slows down our activities and adds to our daily tasks. However, we are dealing with an extraordinary situation, and exceptional measures must be put in place to stop the spread of this virus. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that these guidelines are rigorously applied and integrated into our routine to protect ourselves and others.

Have a good day and stay safe.
